Introduction
Rural Development Foundation (RDF) Janakpur is a non-profit, non-government and non-partisan development organization recognized at the national level which is based in Janakpur. This organization is active since 1996, carrying out activities on empowerment, education, good governance, human rights, awareness raising, poverty reduction, reproductive health and institutional strengthening as well as advocacy through networking of local NGOs and community based organizations in Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Sunsari, Saptari, Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal.

All disadvantaged people, particularly women and children, are healthy and educated, and they enjoy their rights without discrimination.

Mission
The mission of RDF is to work for the protection of the rights of the disadvantaged groups of people, particularly women and children, so that they can enjoy their rights without discrimination. This will impart activities related to promotion of rights based approaches with government/stakeholders and amongst target groups (poorest and marginalized women, men, children and their CBOs) for developing their leadership and enhancing their empowerment.
Strategies
- Raising awareness among the target groups about the allocation of resources and their management practices adopted by the government. This information to target groups will lead for a demand for reallocation of resources in favor of poorest and marginalized and lead to improved service delivery and increased transparency in the management practices.
- Enhancing the capabilities of government for increasing their accountability towards the people and especially to the target groups.
- Raising the capabilities of target groups to advocate for their needs and rights through organizing and campaigning.
- Finding out avenues of mutual cooperation and collaboration between local government and target groups so that the policies of the government are influenced to work in favor of poorest and marginalized.
- Raising awareness among the target groups about the need to work as watch-dog and influence local government policy decisions in favor of them.
