RDF has successfully accomplished a program supported by German Development Service (ded). This program organized a Budget analysis, public auditing and Public Hearings of the fiscal year 2058/59 of Janakpur Municipality of Dhanusha. This issue got quite good coverage in local media. Municipal authorities are still under the investigation by CIAA. Similarly, later the budget analysis and watchdog committee issued Press Release about possible misappropriations in District Education Office and Janakpur Zonal Hospital. All of these got good attention by related stakeholders for corrective actions. Orientation program on Rights and Responsibilities of Local Government based on LSGA 2055 to CBO/NGO representatives, local journalists and line agency officers, 2059. Orientation to Good Governance Watch-dog Committee members and INSEC's partner organization staff members on good governance and human rights practices in eastern Terai, 2002. Stakeholder workshop on Good Governance practices in Dhanusha district to make them accountable and effective in service delivery. Training on "Advocacy for Good Governance" to women group leaders in 15 VDCs of Dhanusha district, TAF 1996-97. Facilitated public audit/public hearing program of Dhanusha DDC organized by INSEC.
Similarly, after a successful completion and effective output of the program, RDF has been carrying out a project entitled “Value Based Good Governance Initiatives Program” in Dhanusha, Mahottari, and Sarlahi districts of Nepal in support with danidaHUGOU. This program has been not only focused on Identification of Community need, planning, implementation and monitoring system, budget analysis, public auditing and public hearing but also to fulfill the initiatives identified by local communities by acquiring the financial and technical support from local bodies according to the principles of Local Self Governance Act 2055 with a close formation of Network among Village Development Forum(s) (VDFs) and District Development Forum (DDF). It has planned to operate Good Governance Education Circle (GGEC) in the program area according to Right, Responsibility and Advocacy (RRA) manual and has been publishing a monthly Newsletter quoting the situation analysis, problems and issues of community, case studies, reports, glimpses etc. |
